Hamirpur, UP ; वीर भूमि जराखर में आजादी के दीवाने तिरंगा को फहराने की जिद पर अड़े थे। जिस पेड़ की सबसे ऊंची डाल पर तिरंगा लहराता था अंग्रेज अफसरों ने उसे ही कटवा दिया। क्रांतिकारियों को अमानवीय यातनाएं दीं। फिर भी आजादी के दीवानों को तिरंगा फहराने से रोकने में नाकाम रहे।
अंग्रेजी सरकार ने गांव को किया था राजद्रोही घोषित
महान क्रांतिकारी श्रीपत सहाय रावत की जन्म भूमि जराखर गांव को अंग्रेजी सरकार ने राजद्रोही घोषित कर दिया। गांव पर पुलिस दल की निगरानी रहती थी। ग्रामीण झंडा लगाते और अंग्रेज उसे उतारने में लगे रहते थे। यह लुकाछिपी का खेल बराबर चलता रहा। जराखर के क्रांतिकारी पंचम लुहार गांव गांव जाकर तिरंगा जुलूस निकालते थे। अंग्रेजी सरकार ने उन्हें पकड़ लिया।
अमानवीय यातनाओ से भी नहीं डिगे पंचम लुहार
हाथ पैर बांध कर अरहर के खेत में पटक दिया। एक सिपाही उनकी छाती पर चढ़ गया। बाकी सिपाहियों ने हाथ पैरों में बंधी रस्सियों के सहारे पूरे खेत में उन्हें घसीटा। बबूल की कंटीली झाड़ियों से पीटा। अमानवीय यातनाएं भी पंचम लुहार का हौसला नहीं तोड़ पाईं। उन्होंने झंडा सत्याग्रह जारी रखा। हर रोज गांव में तिरंगा लगाया जाता और अंग्रेजी फौज उसे उतारने में लगी रहती।
झंडा उतारने के लिए काटना पड़ा विशाल वृक्ष
एक रात क्रांतिकारी रामदयाल कोरी ने पीपल के वृक्ष की सबसे ऊंची व पतली डाल पर तिरंगा लगा दिया। सुबह से अंग्रेजी सरकार की पुलिस तिरंगा उतारने में जुटी रही। पेड़ की डाल इतनी पतली थी कि उस पर चढ़ कर झंडा उतारना संभव नहीं था। आखिर थक कर अंग्रेज अफसरों ने उस पेड़ को ही काट डाला। वहीं रामदयाल कोरी को जेल भेज कर अमानवीय यातनाएं दीं गईं।
महाराज छत्रसाल ने दी थी रावत की उपाधि
मुगल सेना पन्ना के महाराज छत्रसाल को पराजित करने जा रही थी। जराखर गांव के पास डेरा डाले सेना पर गांव के युवाओं ने हमला बोल दिया। अंधेरी रात में मुगलों के रक्त की प्यासी तलवारें चमक उठीं। जराखर के युवाओं ने मुगल सेनापति का सिर धड़ से अलग कर महाराज छत्रसाल को भेंट किया। उनकी बहादुरी से खुश होकर छत्रसाल ने ग्रामीणों को रावत (बहादुर) की उपाधि दी। खिलत सेला मण्डील और खड़ी ताजीम की प्रतिष्ठा बख्शी। जिसका अर्थ था जब भी जराखर निवासी पन्ना के दरवार में पहुंचें तो राजा गद्दी छोड़ कर रावत का सम्मान करे।
