उत्तर प्रदेश के देवरिया जिले से आई एक दिल दहला देने वाली खबर ने बकरीद के पावन मौके पर सबको चौंका दिया। यहां 60 वर्षीय ईश मोहम्मद ने अंधभक्ति और गहरी धार्मिक आस्था में आकर अपनी गर्दन बकरी काटने वाले चाकू से रेत दी। यह घटना गौरीबाजार थाना क्षेत्र के उधोपुर गांव की है, जो अब चर्चा का प्रमुख विषय बन चुकी है।
आत्महत्या या आत्मबलि? पीछे छुपी गहरी सोच
ईश मोहम्मद ने अपने अंतिम क्षणों से पहले एक पत्र लिखा जिसमें उन्होंने खुद को “कुर्बानी योग्य जीव” बताया। उन्होंने लिखा:
“इंसान बकरे को अपने बच्चे की तरह पालता है और फिर कुर्बानी देता है। वह भी जीव है। इसलिए मैं अपनी कुर्बानी अल्लाह के नाम पर दे रहा हूं। मेरी मिट्टी को डर के साथ मत दफनाना, कोई मुझसे ज़ुल्म नहीं किया है।”
यह पत्र पढ़ने के बाद मानवता और धार्मिक विश्वास के बीच की बहस फिर से ज़िंदा हो उठी है।

- शुक्रवार: आंबेडकर नगर के किछौछा स्थित सुल्तान सैयद मकदूम अशरफ शाह की मजार से लौटे।
- शनिवार (बकरीद की सुबह): मस्जिद में नमाज अदा की, फिर घर आकर झोपड़ी में गए।
- करीब 11 बजे: पत्नी को झोपड़ी से कराहने की आवाज सुनाई दी। अंदर जाकर देखा तो खून से लथपथ ईश मोहम्मद गले पर चाकू से खुद को काट चुके थे।
गांव वालों ने 108 एंबुलेंस सेवा और पुलिस को सूचना दी।
देवरिया मेडिकल कॉलेज से गोरखपुर रेफर किया गया, जहां शाम तक उनकी मौत हो गई।
क्या यह धार्मिक कट्टरता या मानसिक तनाव?
पुलिस की शुरुआती जांच में मामला अंधविश्वास और धार्मिक आस्था की अतिशयता का बताया जा रहा है।
थानाध्यक्ष नंदा प्रसाद के अनुसार:
“ईश मोहम्मद अपने मजहब के अनुसार पूजा-पाठ करते थे। वह अक्सर एकांत में इबादत करते थे। फिलहाल मामले की जांच जारी है।”

- पत्नी: हजरा खातून
- तीन बेटे: अहमद अंसारी, मोहम्मद फैज और ताज मोहम्मद
- बहुएं
पूरा परिवार और गांव इस घटना से सदमे में हैं। गांव के लोगों का कहना है कि ईश मोहम्मद शांत स्वभाव के धार्मिक व्यक्ति थे, लेकिन इस कदम ने सभी को चौंका दिया।
