इसी दौरान आई ‘जूता चुराई’ की रस्म, जिसमें दुल्हन की बहन ने दूल्हे के जूते छिपा लिए और नेग के तौर पर ₹50,000 की मांग कर दी। दूल्हे मोहम्मद साबिर ने ₹5,000 देने की पेशकश की। बस फिर क्या था, बात बिगड़ गई।
जूते से थाने तक का सफर
दुल्हन पक्ष की कुछ महिलाओं ने दूल्हे को ‘भिखारी’ तक कह दिया, जिससे माहौल गर्म हो गया। दोनों पक्षों में कहासुनी शुरू हुई और बात हाथापाई तक पहुंच गई। लाठी-डंडे चले और बारातियों को कमरों में बंद तक कर दिया गया।
दूल्हे पक्ष का ये भी आरोप है कि उनके साथ दहेज को लेकर अपमानजनक बातें कही गईं। मामला इतना बिगड़ गया कि पुलिस को बुलाना पड़ा।

सूचना मिलते ही पुलिस मौके पर पहुंची और किसी तरह दोनों पक्षों को शांत कराया। हालांकि, इस घटना से शादी का माहौल पूरी तरह खराब हो गया।
